With-profits investments are investments that, in return for your premiums, provide a guaranteed fixed amount if some specified event occurs, together with additional bonuses which are related to the performance of the with-profits fund.
The fund consists of all the premiums, less expenses, which are received and invested by the Society. The profits earned by the fund are shared out between all of the policies. This allows investment risks to be kept to as small a level as possible.
Principles and Practices of Financial Management
All companies who offer – or who have offered – with-profits investments publish a document called the Principles and Practices of Financial Management (PPFM). This document sets out the way in which we manage the with-profits fund. A copy of Royal Liver’s latest PPFM document can be downloaded from the table below. Previous versions of this report are also available, please click here for archived copies.
PPFMs are quite technical and detailed. They are designed to provide the necessary information for expert commentators and the FSA to appraise the management of a with-profits fund.
Report on PPFM Compliance
The Financial Services Authority requires firms to report to policyholders on their compliance with the Principles and Practices set out in the PPFM. Therefore, we are required to produce a report to policyholders stating whether or not we believe we have complied with the obligations relating to the PPFM, setting out our reasons for that belief. You can download a copy of our latest Compliance report from the table below.

PPFM Guides
For policyholders we have produced a series of 'customer friendly' guides to the management of our with-profits funds. Each guide explains the most important elements of the PPFM in non-technical terms. They give important information about how our with-profits policies work, how we manage our with-profits fund and what benefits policyholders can expect from them.
We have produced specific guides for each type of Royal Liver with-profits policy. Our approach differs depending on the type of policy. Policyholders can download the appropriate guide from the table below.
